The New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Buddhist Union

The New Kadampa Tradition-International Buddhist Union is a thriving association of Buddhist centres through out the world that are dedicated to the study and practice of Kadampa Buddhism as taught by the fully qualified meditation master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
Kadampa Buddhism is a Mahayana Buddhist school founded by the great Indian Master Atisha (982-1054 AD) and later re-energized by the great Tibetan scholar Je Tsongkhapa. The instructions taught in this school have an unbroken lineage that stretches back to Atisha and Buddha Shakyamuni. It is a profound spiritual path based on a wish to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all living beings.
Buddha's teachings are suitable for everyone and can be incorporated into even the busiest of modern lives. The New Kadampa Tradition (NKT) runs a vast programme of meditation classes, weekend courses and festivals that are open to all. Modern Day Kadampas include monks and nuns, experienced teachers, people who live at centres full-time, regular students and occasional visitors to centres and classes. A variety demonstrates how the Dharma possesses relevance and resonance for anyone regardless of age, gender, culture or race.
The NKT - IKBU is an entirely independent Buddhist organization with no political affiliations. It is an international non-profit charity registered in the UK.
