About Buddha Land Centre
Buddha Land Centre was established in 2001, by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, to act as a focus for Buddhist practice and meditation for the area and has since then grown steadily.
A Buddhist Centre in Keighley
The centre moved in August 2009 to a new building, 1 Lawkholme Crescent in the centre of Keighley. Courses and pujas take place in the public meditation room, or Gompa which is on the first floor. On the ground floor there is a comfortable community room and the delightful World Peace Café. It is here that the monthly Stop the Week meals are held.
More than a place to visit
As well as being a place where Buddhist teachings and practice takes place, the centre has a residential building which is home to four residents, including the Centre's Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Päljin. Currently there is a spare room so if you are interested in living in a quiet and peaceful environment please let us know. Overnight accommodation is also available.
Helping out
As a voluntary organization, we rely upon the energetic support from members who form part of the wider community. This local community is a vital part of every activity so there are plenty of opportunities to lend a helping hand if you are interested.
