About Buddha Land Centre
Buddha Land Centre was established in 2001, by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, to act as a focus for Buddhist practice and meditation for the area.
A Buddhist Centre in Keighley
The centre is based in a 5-bedroomed terraced house on the edge of Keighley. Courses and pujas take place in the meditation room, or Gompa, which is on the ground floor. Downstairs, the basement has been converted into a comfortable sitting room/dining room for sitting and relaxing or eating meals. It is here that the monthly Stop the Week meals are held. As the basement opens onto the street at the rear there is wheel chair access to both the meditation room and sitting room.
More than a place to visit
As well as being a place where Buddhist teachings and practice takes place, the centre is home to four residents. Two of whom are ordained, including the Centre's Resident Teacher Kelsang Päljin. Currently there is a spare room so if you are interested in living in a Buddhist Centre please let us know.
Helping out
Being a small centre, we rely upon the energetic support from non-resident members who form part of the wider community. This local community is a vital part of every activity so there are plenty of oportunities to lend a helping hand if you are interested.
Vital maintenance
Leo, one of Buddha Lands residents, puts the finishing touches to the front door.
